The Hurricanes were looking to bounce back from two close-run losses in recent weeks but the Crusaders took the opportunity to solidify themselves as the frontrunners in Super Rugby Pacific's New Zealand contigent.
The Canes came into this game off the back of a 30-29 loss to the Chiefs last weekend, which contained a now trademark late game comeback. Meanwhile, the Crusaders had a hard-fought and often ugly win over the Highlanders in Christchurch, eventually prevailing 17-14.
