Fox has powered his way into the lead, one shot ahead of England's Sam Horsfield heading into the final round in Belgium.

Fox produced a stunning finish at the Rinkven International to birdie five of his last eight holes, carding a five under par 66 in the third round, for the lead in the latest DP World Tour Event.

"I played really solid on the back nine, didn't miss a shot, holed a couple of putts as well," Fox said.

"I hope I've figured something out after a couple of scrappy drives early in the round and felt pretty good from the 10th hole on so hopefully I can take that into tomorrow.

"On this course, regardless of how you're playing you feel like you've got lots of chances, you can always manage to get a couple of irons in the fairways and still give yourself some wedges and the greens are rolling lovely and you can hole some putts.

"I've been in contention the last couple of weeks as well and not really done much on Sunday so I'm looking forward to being in the mix again."

Melbourne started well with a 10th minute goal from Serbian striker Aleksandar Prijovic ultimately separating the two sides

The Phoenix came within millimetres of scoring an equaliser, with the ever-dangerous Reno Piscopo rattling the crossbar and Western goal keeper Jamie Young producing arguably the save of the season to deny Wellington substitute James McGarry.

"I think Jamie Young was probably the best player on the park and I think that tells you a bit of a tale of the game," Phoenix head coach Ufuk Talay said.

"I think we created enough chances to get ourselves back in the game.

"I'm disappointed at the end that we don't continue but very proud of the group.

"They showed their resilience and perseverance to get to where they got to this season.

"I'm very proud of the group, very proud of the players, very proud of my staff [for] the perseverance and the resilience that the players have shown for us to even get to this point and play finals football."

The Phoenix's squad is starting to take shape for next season.

"At the moment we've got 14-15 players signed for next season. We've got a few important positions we need to fill with visa spots," Talay said.

"We lacked probably a goal scorer this season. We shared the goals around with a few players but we lacked a real clinical player up front and that's something we're looking for."

Hurricanes and Blues claim wins

Both New Zealand Super Rugby Pacific sides in action overnight have won their games.

The Hurricanes overcame a big deficit to win against the New South Wales Waratahs 22-18 in Sydney.

A late try to captain Ardie Savea secured the victory.

Meanwhile the Blues claimed their 11th straight win, outclassing the Queensland Reds 53-26 at Eden Park.

World number one Iga Swiatek swept aside third-seeded Aryna Sabalenka 6-2 6-1 in a lopsided contest in Rome to advance to the Italian Open final, where she will meet either Ons Jabeur or Daria Kasatkina.

Reigning champion Swiatek extended her winning streak to 27 matches, overpowering Sabalenka in just over an hour to reach her fifth straight WTA final.

World number five Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the Italian Open final for the first time after the Greek rallied to defeat Alexander Zverev 4-6 6-3 6-3 on Saturday.

Tsitsipas, who will rise to fourth in the new ATP rankings next week, will need to beat either top-ranked Novak Djokovic or Norwegian fifth seed Casper Ruud to claim his third Masters 1000 title.
