Latest - Four times world champion Sebastian Vettel has announced he will retire from Formula One at the end of the season, saying his goals had changed and he wanted to focus more on family and interests outside the sport.

The 35-year-old German, who drives for the Aston Martin team, won his titles with Red Bull from 2010-13 and also spent six seasons with Ferrari.

He made the announcement ahead of this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, the 13th round of the season and last race before the August break.

Vettel, who has become increasingly outspoken on a range of topics from the environment to LGBTQ+ rights, said Formula One was increasingly in conflict with his personal life.

"My goals have shifted from winning races and fighting for championships to seeing my children grow, passing on my values, helping them up when they fall, listening to them when they need me, not having to say goodbye and, most importantly, being able to learn from them and let them inspire me," he said.

"I feel we live in very decisive times and how we all shape these next years will determine our lives.

Vettel said in May that climate change made him question his job as a racing driver.

Manly seven agree to wear pride jersey in the future

Manly Sea Eagles players who boycotted last night's NRL match against Sydney Roosters rather than play in a pride jersey have agreed to wear the shirt from next season as long as they are consulted in the process, owner and chairman Scott Penn told Australian media.

Seven players - Josh Aloiai, Jason Saab, Christian Tuipulotu, Josh Schuster, Haumole Olakau'atu, Tolutau Koula and Toafofoa Sipley - stood down from the National Rugby League match rather than wear the jersey, which has rainbow bands replacing the team's white stripes, symbolising inclusiveness.

The decision to boycott, which Manly coach Des Hasler said was taken on "religious and cultural" grounds, drew criticism from LGBTQ groups and the club's first openly gay player Ian Roberts.

Penn said the players' main issue was not the jersey itself but the lack of consultation regarding their stance.

The Roosters won the game 20-10.

The Roosters are 8th on the table and the Sea Eagles 9th.

Sri Lanka roll Pakistan in Galle

Sri Lanka spinners Prabath Jayasuriya and Ramesh Mendis snared nine wickets between them to help the hosts to a 246-run series-levelling victory against Pakistan on the fifth and final day of the second test in Galle.

It was the fourth five-wicket haul in only his third test for left-arm spinner Jayasuriya, who picked up 12 wickets against Australia on his debut last month to lead Sri Lanka to another series-levelling win at the same venue.

Off-spinner Mendis, who took five wickets in Pakistan's first innings, provided able support by picking up another four as the touring side were bundled out for 261 in their second innings during the second session.

Set a record target of 508, Pakistan, who won the opening test at Galle by four wickets, got off to a false start in their bid to save the match when Imam-ul-Haq fell on 49 to Mendis in the third over of the day after they had resumed on 89-1.

UEFA investigate Fenerbache

UEFA will start a disciplinary investigation against Turkey's Fenerbahce over a group of its fans chanting Russian President Vladimir Putin's name after conceding a goal at home to Dynamo Kyiv in a Champions League qualifier.

Fenerbahce's hopes of competing in Europe's elite Champions League soccer competition this season were dashed by a 2-1 extra-time loss to Kyiv in the second qualifying round tie in Istanbul yesterday.

Vitaliy Buyalskyi's goal was met with chants of "Vladimir Putin" by many Fenerbahce fans, prompting an online backlash condemning the Istanbul side's fans and calling on European governing body UEFA to take action against the club.

UEFA said an "Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding alleged misbehaviour of Fenerbahce supporters" at the Dynamo Kyiv match, adding further information would be made available later.

Vasyl Bodnar, Ukrainian Ambassador to Ankara, said on Twitter he was saddened by the chants but thanked those who stood against the "inappropriate actions" of the fans. "Football is a fair game. Dynamo Kyiv was stronger yesterday," he said.

Vos still leads Tour

Wiebes launched her sprint with Elisa Balsamo and yellow jersey holder Marianne Vos in hot pursuit and kept both at bay to claim her second stage victory after winning the opening stage on the Champs-Elysees.

Vos, who nearly took a wrong turn at the final corner, came in third behind Balsamo but the Jumbo-Visma rider retains the yellow jersey.

The stage was also marred by a big crash with about 50 km to go, with many riders injured.

Emma Norsgaard was forced to abandon the race with her Movistar team saying she had pain in her head, neck and left shoulder. She was taken to the hospital for further assessment.

There are 3 stages remaining.

Zverev still hopes to play NY

Alexander Zverev has not given up hope of playing next month's U.S. Open but the German world number two is more likely to return to action from his ankle injury during the group stage of the Davis Cup Finals in mid-September.

Zverev was forced to retire after suffering an injury during his French Open semi-final against Rafael Nadal and had surgery on torn ligaments in his right ankle last month.

The 25-year-old has yet to be ruled out of the year's final Grand Slam, which starts on Aug. 29 on the hardcourts of Flushing Meadows in New York.
