New Zealand Cricket says it still intends touring Pakistan next month, despite the recent shooting of former prime minister and Pakistani international cricketer Imran Khan.

One person was killed and at least 10 injured in the attack on Khan's convoy in Punjab last week.

The Black Caps are due to play two tests and three one dayers in Pakistan in December and January with the first test starting on December 27th.

England are also due to play three tests there prior to Christmas.

In a statement New Zealand Cricket said there are no changes to their tour arrangement but they "will continue to assess and monitor the security ahead of, and during the upcoming tour."

Black Caps coach Gary Stead is confident the security assessments are appropriate.

"We use the same security outfit as England Cricket do, so I am sure that will give us some guidance as to what that looks like in the future for us."
