The All Blacks have suffered an injury blow on the eve of the second Bledisloe Cup test against the Wallabies on Saturday.
Lock Tupou Vaa'i has been ruled out of the final Rugby Championship match in Perth after injuring his right knee at training on Thursday.
Highlanders lock Fabian Holland has been drafted in as his replacement and and will partner returning captain Scott Barrett.
Patrick Tuipulotu will provide locking cover from the substitutes bench.
Vaa'i will have his injury assessed by a specialist on return to New Zealand next week.
