The United Nations is preparing to launch its biggest-ever appeal for global aid, with the bulk of the assistance destined for the millions of victims of the Syrian civil war.
A new study by the International Rescue Committee, a global relief organisation, says four out of five Syrians are worried that food supplies are running out.

UN humanitarian envoy Valerie Amos says Syrian refugees feel the world doesn't understand their plight.
"One of the things that Syrians say to me all the time (is) 'why has the world abandoned us'"
"That's how Syrians who have fled as refugees feel. They feel that the world has not really come together, understood what they're facing and done something about it."
It's only a few months since the UN's last appeal, which raised $US4.4 billion ($NZ5.3 billion). But it says Syria's crisis is now even worse, and the appeal being launched on Monday is even bigger.
