Under the influence: Rugby in the blood

8:04 am on 30 June 2014

In a three-part series, New Zealanders from different walks of life share stories about the people who have influenced them. In the final story, we talk to the Crusaders back Tom Taylor.

Rugby runs in the blood of the Taylor family.  Tom’s father Warwick was an All Black and so was his uncle Murray. Tom has had the honour of pulling on the black jersey too, making his debut against the Wallabies last year in Wellington.

Tom was brought up with a rugby ball in hand. However, not having any brothers to practice with, his father would get dragged down to the park. There he learnt the skills that have made him the all-round player he is today.
