Engineering students' costumes offend 'everyone possible'

A University of Canterbury student club has offended “everyone possible”, Stuff.co.nz reports.

On its Facebook page, the UoC Engineering Society encouraged participants in the RoUndie 500 to choose costumes and decorated cars with themes “the more inappropriate the better”. Teams turned up to last weekend’s event decked out in costumes relating to ebola, Malaysian Airlines and Islam.

The club also upset members of the feminist club FemSoc with a car showing images of 30 women ranked by supposed desirability.

FemSoc member Annamarie Moot, 20, told the website that the event “ticked off every bad thing in the book”.

“They’re just offending everyone possible.”

The feminist group planned to complain to the students’ association and university management.
