Shocking Pinks: Nick Harte, the man behind the Shocking Pinks moniker, is heading out on a massive three-month world tour to celebrate the re-release of his debut record Dance The Dance Electric. Before that happens though, he’ll be playing a going away party / fundraiser this Friday at Whammy Bar. Presales are $10 and he’ll be joined by New Gum Sarn, Heavy and Japan’s PWRFL Power.

Compounds & Collisions: In collaboration with Q Theatre, this evening The Pantograph Punch are hosting the second in the series of their storytelling nights. This instalment covers “the hidden treasures of Auckland’s creative scene” with poems by Jess Holly Bates and Tourettes, standup from Hamish Parkinson, a performance from Great North, and readings by Sue Orr and Josephine Stewart-Tewhiu. Things kick off at 6pm and tickets are $15.

Orchestra of Spheres: Before they head to China next month, Wellington-based band Orchestra of Spheres have some shows lined up, including a couple this weekend in Rotorua and Auckland. They play at Casa Blanca Theatre on Friday before they hit Golden Dawn the following evening for a show alongside local DIY musician Kraus. Tickets are available on the door, or through Eventfinder for Friday’s show.

Dylan Moran: Black Books star and comedian Dylan Moran is in New Zealand this week for his Off The Hook tour, which begins tonight in Christchurch. Moran, who is here for the first time in four years, also has shows lined up in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington. You can find the full dates over at Eventfinder.

Anthonie Tonnon: Recently announced as a finalist for this year’s Silver Scroll award, Anthonie Tonnon plays two shows this weekend down South to celebrate the vinyl release of his latest album, Successor. He’ll play at the Darkroom on Saturday night, followed by a show at Taste Merchants on Sunday. Tickets are $36 with a copy of the album on vinyl, or $18 without, and are available through Under The Radar.

Reality Flip: This Saturday, K Road venue Neck Of The Woods are hosting Reality Flip, a show with local acts Beach Pigs, Fly Nights, Tracing Spheres and Stoltz. There’ll also be “buzzy lights, installations and visuals”. Entry is $5 before 10pm and $10 thereafter. Everything else you need to know is here.

Street Chant: Auckland trio Street Chant hit the South Island for shows in Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin over the next few days. The band, who announced that their second album will finally be out this November, will be joined by support acts including The Transistors and Astro Children, and you can find dates, venues and more info over on Facebook.
