Interviews and live sets from the New Zealand music underground. This week, we catch Wellington band T.A.B.
T.A.B. are Chris Wratt on drums and Jos Van der Beek on shouting and Gameboy.
This electro-punk duo from Wellington meld the digital cacophony of Nintendo world, where rudimentary bleeps are intrinsically linked to the emotional ecstasy of a ‘level up’ or the pain and suffering of being terminated.
Mixed with the music of dance rave Gabba and the sarcastic ranting of post-punk hip priest Mark E Smith, the resulting mash-up sounds like the soundtrack to a nightmarish computer generated world where, given the ever-present threat of ‘game over’, you might as well just have a dance.
