Kick Out The Jams: Yukon Era

9:35 am on 2 October 2015

Interviews and live sets from the New Zealand music underground. This week, we catch Auckland band Yukon Era.

Yukon Era are a five piece garage rock band from Auckland whose members range in age from 14-17.

Fitting their current tour of the North Island with Australian band Mess Mess within school holidays, the band has had to play an improvised line-up after two members were ‘grounded’ with family and other commitments.

Despite their young age, members Lachie Thurlow and Christian Dinnick (both 16) are already tour veterans through their previous band Desperate Models. Lachie also runs his own event promotion organisation, Oldies,  which has been busy throwing together all ages gigs in community halls across Auckland. His largest event Ageold (organised with Die! Die! Die!'s Andrew Wilson and Glass Owls' Anthony Metcalf) is in its second year and features an impressive line up from across New Zealand.
