Lou Barlow: Known for his time spent in Dinosaur Jr and Sebadoh, lo-fi icon Lou Barlow is in the country this week to play a series of shows over the next few days. Here off the back of his recently-released solo album Brace The Wave, he’ll kick off tonight's tour at Chick’s Hotel before hitting Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington in the coming days. Tickets are available through Under The Radar.

Delaney Davidson and Aldous Harding: Ahead of her upcoming tour this March, Aldous Harding is partnering with Lyttleton’s Delaney Davidson for a rare one-off show this Saturday. They play Christchurch’s Wunderbar, and you can find tickets online via Under The Radar.

Viet Cong: Though they still haven’t delivered on the promise of changing their name, Viet Cong are in Auckland this week to play a one-off show at the Kings Arms. Tickets to see the Canadian quartet are available via Under The Radar and, if you missed it, you can hear their recent interview with Music 101’s Sam Wicks right here.

The Fête of Real Groovy: Now that iconic record store Real Groovy has found a new home, it’s time to celebrate. This Saturday, the new store (at 369 Queen St in the old Salvation Army building) will be host to food and drinks, spot prizes, and live performances from Thomas Oliver, Rackets, LarzRanda, Lydia Cole and Paquin.

The Trendees: Direct from Oamaru, scrappy punk band The Trendees are in Auckland this weekend for a show at Golden Dawn on Saturday night. They’ll be joined by The Biscuits plus DJs Ducklingmonster and Level Metal. “It will be cute chaos,” according to the event page. Be there.

Paquin: With their third EP - aptly titled III - out tomorrow, Auckland dance/electro-pop act Paquin are heading out on a tour of the North Island, which begins this Saturday at Auckland’s Wine Cellar. They’ve also lined up a show next month in Hamilton and another in Whangarei in early March. Find all the details on Facebook.
