Kick Out The Jams: Red Sky Blues

9:04 am on 24 March 2016

Interviews and live sets from the New Zealand music underground. This week we catch up with Wellington rock outfit Red Sky Blues.

Taking their cue from heavy riff-laden rock gods like Black Sabbath and Leaf Hound, and filtered through the lens of more recent acts such as Kyuss, a new wave of stoner/desert/doom rock bands are lighting up festivals and gigs for a current generation interested in the organic sound of vintage tube amps and the mind expanding potential of psychedelics.

Wellington band Red Sky Blues brings together Ezra, Patrick, David and Johnathan - four disciples of “The Riff” who are laying down some heavy grooves for their upcoming debut album. We caught up with them at their forest cabin practice session and watched them slay the audience at Newtown Festival.
