Cat Power: After having to postpone her New Zealand dates due to an illness back in February, Cat Power aka Chan Marshall is finally back to see them out. She plays The Powerstation in Auckland on Friday before heading to Wellington for one last show at the Paramount Theatre. Tickets to both are still available via Ticketmaster.

SWIDT: Why not just get your weekend started tonight with the launch party for SWIDT vs Everybody, the new album from the Onehunga collective. They’re hitting Neck of the Woods this evening alongside a deep line-up which includes P Money, Team Dynamite, Rizván, Lukan Raisey and DJ Substance. Tickets are available here.

The Vottones and The DHDFDs: Japanese rock ‘n’ roll act The Vottones are in the midst of a tour of New Zealand with local friends The DHDFDs. They’ll make stops in Wellington, Raglan and Tauranga over the next few days, and they’ll also play the last show ever at The Lucha Lounge on Saturday before it closes. Rumours are that it’s also the final shows The DHDFDs will play too :-(

I.E. Crazy: Following a recent trip across the Tasman, Auckland’s Claire Duncan – better known these days as I.E.Crazy - is down in Christchurch this weekend for a show with Seth Frightening, Leather Image, Motte and No Exit. It’s going down at LOG Recording and entry is $10 on the door. If you missed it, read her My Top 5 right here.

Hamilton Music Month: The second and final night celebrating everything about Hamilton music is on this Friday at The Meteor. This time the venue will be host to sets from Imploder, Bruno Merz, Harry Parsons, Aorangi and more. Entry is $15 waged or $10 unwaged on the door, and you can find more details here.

Hex: Wellington “pagan folk metal” act Hex have announced that they will release a new EP, Calling To The Universe, ahead of their forthcoming full length LP which is out this November. To celebrate, the trio will be in Auckland this Friday for a show at Golden Dawn alongside local pals Civil Union and DJ Kiran Dass. It won’t be one to miss.
