Interviews and live sets from the New Zealand music underground. This week, we check in with Wellington outfit Pales.
Wellington folk trio Pales have just released their second album Don't Be So Nice, which features 12 hauntingly beautiful tracks written entirely by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Scott Maynard. The songs touch on various eerie themes and flavours - thick with three-part harmonies and skilfully executed instrumentation.
We went to their Newtown flat for a chat about the recording process, creative collaboration and the inspiration behind the album. They also treated us to a live performance of some of the albums stand-out tracks.
