Kick Out The Jams: Prizegiving

12:09 pm on 1 July 2016

Interviews and live sets from the New Zealand music underground. This week, we check in with Wellington band Prizegiving.

Prizegiving, the Wellington-based five-piece band, have just released their debut album No Harm Done with help from Papaiti Records in New Zealand and Sleepover Records in the US.

Their sound sits somewhere between emo, pop-punk and indie rock - but whatever you call it, people are digging it. The songs are packed with layered melodies and catchy hooks, while the lyrics are honest and scattered with dry humour. No Harm Done has the jangly, lo-fi kiwi-pop sound that we’re known for internationally, so expect to hear more from them in the future.

We caught up with Miles, Ali and Wynn at their Newtown flat the day after their album release party at Moon.

Filmed and edited by Ezra Simons and Gussie Larkin.
