The women's K4 500 team are through to the final after easily winning their heat.

Dame Lisa Carrington, Aotearoa's most decorated Olympian, Alicia Hoskin, Olivia Brett and Tara Vaughan led from the beginning and never looked back.

Carrington is back to contest the K2 500m with team mate Hoskin.

New Zealand's men's team in the K4 500m and K2 500m have to race again in the quarter finals.

Meanwhile, first-time Olympian middle-distance runner Maia Ramsden is through to the semi-final of the 1500m after coming sixth in her heat.

Climber Julian David, who won the men's and women's titles at the IFSC sport climbing oceania qualifier in Melbourne last November, is set for the seeding round at 11pm.
