Two more shootings on American university campuses have left two people dead and several wounded.
One person has been fatally shot and another wounded in a shooting at an apartment complex adjacent to the campus of Texas Southern University in Houston, and the shooter remains at large.
Two suspects have been taken into custody, the school said.
The school, with about 9,700 students, was placed on lockdown for several hours after the shooting and all classes were canceled on Friday. Police said they do not yet have a motive for the shooting.
Authorities have not yet identified the suspect or the victims but local media said the person killed was a student at the university.
Several hours earlier, an 18-year-old student opened fire with a handgun on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, killing one person and wounding three.
The school said that the suspected gunman was charged with first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault, and that he would be arraigned by video on Friday afternoon.
Last week, a gunman killed nine people in a shooting rampage at an Oregon college and then killed himself.
