Young criminals have escaped a youth justice centre in Australia, with seven inmates still on the run after stealing several vehicles north of Melbourne.
Police said about 30 inmates were involved in a disturbance at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre this afternoon.
Fifteen youths escaped, of which eight were recaptured.
Police said the escapees were thought to have stolen cars - one in a highway carjacking.
Those on the run were believed to be travelling in three cars.
Five inmates climbed on the roof of the complex during the disturbance.
