Covid-19: Victoria reports 21 more deaths from the coronavirus

Victoria has recorded 21 deaths in Australia's deadliest day in the coronavirus pandemic.

There have been 410 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours, an increase on yesterday's total of 331.

Victoria's death toll is now 267, with the state recording 19 deaths yesterday.

Meanwhile the state's Treasurer, Tim Pallas, has told a parliamentary inquiry 325,000 Victorians are expected to lose their jobs because of coronavirus.

Pallas told the inquiry into the Victorian government's response new modelling predicts the unemployment rate could peak at 11 per cent by September.

The Department of Treasury and Finance expects the economy to fall by 9 percent in 2021, after the introduction of stage 4 restrictions.
