The Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) recorded 319 new locally acquired Covid-19 infections in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday.
It's the first time the state has ever had more than 300 cases in a day.

There have been five more Covid-19 deaths in NSW.
It takes the state's total fatalities since the start of the pandemic to 84.
Armidale local government area in NSW's Northern Tablelands will go into a week-long lockdown from 5pm today local time.
This follows two positive Covid-19 cases identified in Armidale overnight, one of which is a close contact of a known case in the Newcastle area.
Stay-at-home orders will apply to all people in this LGA - which includes the major towns of Armidale and Guyra - and also applies to anyone who has visited these areas on or after July 31.
The orders will be in place until 12.01am Sunday, 15 August.
Of the state's new cases, 138 were in isolation for their infectious period.
Thirty-two were in isolation for part of their infectious period and another 51 cases were infectious in the community.
NSW Health is investigating the isolation status of 98 of the new infections.
Victoria records 29 new local Covid-19 cases
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says it is "a certainty that there are more cases out there", after the state recorded 29 new locally acquired cases of Covid-19 in an outbreak of the Delta variant that has spread to a Melbourne public housing tower.
The 29 new cases are all linked to existing cases in the outbreak but were not in quarantine while infectious.
The new cases were detected from among 43,618 test results processed on Friday and mark the highest single-day increase in local cases this year.
"My message to the Victorian community is this is very, very significant, to see this many cases," Andrews said.
"There is a certainty that there are more cases out there, that's why getting tested if you've got any symptoms at all is so, so important."
Queensland records 13 new community cases
Queensland has recorded 13 new community cases of Covid-19, Deputy Premier Steven Miles said.
All the cases are linked to the Delta outbreak that started at Indooroopilly State High School, in Brisbane's inner west.
Twelve of the cases were not infectious in the community and health authorities are still gathering information from the 13th case.
There are now 102 cases in the cluster and 144 active cases in the state.
