At least 22 people are dead and 50 to 60 people have been injured in shootings in the US, reports say.
Police are investigating at least two active shooter events in Lewiston, Maine, the county sheriff reported on Wednesday night while posting two photographs of a suspect pointing what appeared to be a semiautomatic rifle.
The Lewiston Police Department on Facebook identified a person of interest in the mass shooting as Robert Card, 40, saying he should be "considered armed and dangerous".
Police say "literally hundreds" of officers are scouring the state of Maine in the US to find the man.
