A group of Indian government ministers has held their first meeting to re-examine compensation and other issues arising from the 1984 Bhopal gas disaster. Thousands of people were killed in the incident.
The BBC reports there has been widespread anger in India following the conclusion of a court case last week, in which seven former managers at the plant were finally convicted.
They received minor fines and short prison sentences.
The disaster occurred when a cloud of toxic gas leaked from a plant run by the American company Union Carbide.
The group of senior ministers is looking at issues such as compensation and continued pollution at the site of the plant, which is now abandoned.
Home Minister P Chidambaram said the group's recommendations should be finalised on Monday.
