In this episode of Sports History NZ we look back at the 1981 Springbok rugby Tour and meet the man who talked us through it.

Despite international condemnation, New Zealand had continued to play rugby against South Africa through the years of apartheid. We even toured there with a 'whites only’ team.

Then in 1981 the Springbok team arrived on our shores.

Keith Quinn was the  TVNZ Rugby commentator for the tour and he had to put aside his anti-tour political views to do his job.

Keith joined Jesse Mulligan in June 2023 to remember his decision and to recall this significant piece of New Zealand Sporting History.
