Large hospitality chain Wishbone has gone into liquidation.

Wishbone operates cafes and food outlets with pre-packaged meals.

Liquidator Mohammed Jan was appointed for its holding company The Woodward Group earlier this week, according to the Companies Register.

The first liquidator report is due on 21 August 2023.

The company's website is down and its stores are closed.

Wishbone is run by Andrea Gibson Scarlett and Shayne Scarlett, who are directors of its holding company.

Unite Union said it was offering support to workers impacted by the liquidation and informing a small number of workers about their rights.

Wellington Airport confirmed the store there closed on Tuesday and it had been told the company had gone into liquidation.
