A person has died in a single-vehicle crash in Christchurch this evening, while another died after a crash in South Westland.
The Christchurch fatality occurred in Copenhagen Place in the suburb of Hoon Hay.
Police were called around 4.45pm after a vehicle hit a fence.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash have begun.
A crash at Kokatahi in South Island was reported to police at 7.50am today, however, it is believed to have occurred earlier.
Police have also released the name of a man who died after a crash in Ashburton last Monday.
He was 36-year-old Vishwam Sankar from Timaru.
Police have also started an investigation into that crash.
