Broadcast on The Music Mix - 11:06 pm Thursday 31 January 2013

"It's like Big Day Out without the munters" said one happy punter at last year's Laneway music festival and with BDO evicted from Auckland, Laneway has become the premier alternative multi-stage gig in the City of Sails.

Laneway though, is more of a boutique gathering selling only 6,000 tickets for a compact site filled with a genteel and civilised crowd.

Nick Atkinson brings you compelling on-site interviews from international acts like Bat for Lashes, Jessie Ware and Cloud Nothings. Our reporters also catch up with James Milne, back from an often glamorous sojourn in New York and Europe.

The Phoenix Foundation perform new material from the their all but completed new album and Bailterspace will play with their complete line-up for the first time in 10,000 tides.

Join the The Music Mix team for unmatched access and coverage of this most chi chi music festival perched on the edge of the Waitemata Harbour.
