Grilled Figs

9:59 pm on 14 April 2009

Grilled figs are a lovely idea to serve with drinks, or can be served as a starter when you can pop the grilled figs on the top of some fresh rocket leaves, moistened with a little vinaigrette.

Ingredients

12 large ripe figs, chilled
½ cup soft goat feta
Freshly ground black pepper
12 pieces of thin streaky bacon
2 handfuls freshly washed and dried rocket leaves
2 tablespoons light vinaigrette

Method

Pre-heat the grill in your oven.

Split the figs almost in half from the top towards the base.

Push a small spoonful of soft goat feta cheese into each fig. Grind a little black pepper onto each and then carefully wind the bacon around each fig. Secure with a toothpick.

Place under the heated grill, turning once or twice until the bacon is crisp. Serve at once with drinks, or on the rocket leaves as a starter for 6 people.
