Clare Moleta has won several awards for her travel writing and has published short fiction in journals like Sport, Swamp and Turbine. ‘Safer’ is adapted from the opening of a novel she wrote in 2017 about parenthood, climate and seeking refuge. She was awarded an IIML Project Scholarship to help her revise the manuscript and is now juggling that with thinking about the next book.
