'The Cold City' is based on an excerpt from my novel The End of the Earth, which tells the story of a bunch of misfits gathered in Te Wairoa in the days before the 1886 Tarawera eruption.
Sarah Ell is a freelance writer and editor who lives on Auckland's North Shore. She has written three young adult novels and seven non-fiction titles, and has a BA majoring in New Zealand history and a Master of Creative Writing degree from Auckland University.
