Although often described as a British organist Dame Gillian Weir is actually a New Zealander. She was born in Martinborough, and grew up in Whanganui. Her list of accomplishments is long and distinguished. Her recording for Collins Classics of the works of Messiaen has been hailed as 'one of the major recording triumphs of the century'.
Dame Gillian was interviewed for her 70th birthday by Charlotte Wilson in 2011.
