Nostalgia and Decay, Jazz and Jets
On the Lido, the island and sand bar which protects the lagoon and the city from the full force of the Adriatic, large elegant hotels were built for moneyed tourists wanting an aristocratic milieu and access to sea bathing. One crossed the road to the beach each day and set up in one of the pretty pavilions provided by the hotel.
