The tradition of sending Christmas cards began in the mid 19th century. And while in decline, Christmas cards are for many the only time in the year they'll hear from certain people.
This year, RNZ Concert is inviting listeners to send a musical Christmas card. Perhaps you want to send greetings to an old friend you've lost touch with, a family member overseas, or simply appreciate a long-term partner? Do it through the medium of music.
Scroll down and fill in the form below before 15 December and listen out for your musical Christmas card on Daybreak with Cynthia Morahan, weekday mornings from 6am on RNZ Concert.
And because we're hoping the sending of a musical Christmas card inspires listeners to take up the humble pen and write an actual letter, all entries will go in the draw to win Daybreak's book for the month of December.
Kind Regards, the lost art of letter writing by Liz Williams explores the fascinating story of how a simple piece of paper revolutionised global communication and how, despite the ever-growing influence of technology, handwritten letters are regaining their value, meaning and popularity.
