Mortissa – Çiğdem Aslan
This is the first solo album from London-based Turkish singer Çiğdem Aslan. It’s a collection of rebetiko songs in Greek and Turkish with their musical roots in Anatolia. This 'Blues of the Aegean' arose in the turbulent times of the 1920s and was at one time banned by both Greek and Turkish authorities for being socially degenerative (Asphalt Tango 980132)
