Tonight’s concert is from the Schwetzingen SWR Festival, recorded last year at the Rococo Theatre at Schwetzingen Castle. The programme is devoted to an oratorio by George Frideric Handel, Il Parnasso in festa, a serenade which takes as its theme the wedding of the Greek mythological characters, Thetis and Peleus. Very rarely performed, this work represents a true discovery. You will hear this work in a rendition by the prestigious La Cetra Vocal Ensemble and Baroque Orchestra conducted by Carlos Federico Sepúlveda.
