Viktoria Mullova Trio
The superstar violinist leads a piano trio in a recital for Chamber Music New Zealand
Viktoria Mullova won the Sibelius Violin Competition in 1980 in Helsinki – her first time outside the Soviet Union and it planted the seed for the thought of defection. This she did in dramatic fashion in 1983 while on tour in Finland with her then partner and accompanist Vakhtang Jordania.
Since then, she's become on her own terms one of the leading violinists of our age with performances and recordings with many of the world's leading ensembles and conductors.
She's joined in this piano trio recital by her husband Matthew Barley and Auckland pianist Stephen De Pledge.
