These two colourful suites from Manuel de Falla’s ballet The Three Cornered Hat were originally performed by the famous Ballets Russes.
The music reflects the antics of a magistrate obsessed with a miller’s wife.
It’s full of captivating Spanish rhythms and dances such as the fandango and seguidilla.
Recorded 6 July 2018, Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington by RNZ Concert.
