MOZART: Piano Sonata No 17 in B flat K570

From Music Alive, 3:00 pm on 19 January 2019

It’s not a flashy work … writers have spoken of its “rarefied elegance” and “quiet simplicity". But there’s Mozart genius here nevertheless.

Performed by Jun Bouterey Ishido in Auckland Museum Auditorium, 24 August 2018.

Mozart wrote this Bb major sonata in 1789, two years before his death, but he didn’t get it published. It first appeared some 8 years later in an edition with an added violin part. But it’s thought that this violin part was not by Mozart.
