A colourful concert opener giving the performer a chance to show off their imagination.
Performed by Thomas Gaynor at the organ of Auckland Town Hall
British organist Alfred Hollins is not a well-known name outside the organ world.
He was blind from birth in 1865, but managed an unusually active concert life.
And like all organists from that time, he wrote his own music. This Concert Overture is just that … an opener for a concert, designed to show off the many colours of an organ in a short time.
Recorded in Auckland Town Hall, 19 August 2018
Producer, Engineer: Tim Dodd
