VIVALDI: Cello Concerto in B minor RV424

From Music Alive, 8:20 pm on 2 April 2019

Performed by NZ Barok with guest cellist James Bush at their concert, "The Splendour of Venice"

Of the Red Priest’s almost 30 cello concertos, this is the only one in B minor.

Vivaldi worked as the violin teacher for 30 years at an orphanage, the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, and he wrote most of his works while there. The girls of the orphanage received a musical education and the most talented of them were in the orchestra.

They must have been some players.

Recorded by RNZ Concert in St Luke's Church, Remuera, Auckland, 6 October 2018
