The Quaderno was written in 1952 and dedicated to Dallapiccola's daughter Anna Libera.
The full title translates as “Anna Libera’s Musical Exercise Book” … it’s a reference to Bach’s Little Notebook that he dedicated to his wife Anna Magdalena.
