This setting of Michael Reston's poem was written for Auckland chamber choir Viva Voce on the occasion of the choir's 25th Anniversary. Conductor John Rosser, to whom the piece is dedicated, had asked for a piece which referenced silver in some way.
The poem, found on an internet poetry site, is a short and atmospheric text. The music matches that moon, with slow moving chords in the key of D flat major, and a richly textured choral palette. (Note by David Hamilton)
