Nathaniel Otley is what you could describe as ‘an all-round musician’: he’s a composer, he’s a violinist, and he’s a conductor – and he’ll be filling at least two of those roles on Saturday night in Dunedin.
He’s conducting the Dunedin Youth Orchestra in the first half of the concert, then he’s jumping off the podium and into the violin section of the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra for the second half in which the DSO will accompany the three finalists in the Dunedin Concerto Competition.
Three to Seven producer Robyn Jaquiery spoke with Nathaniel about the mission he’s chosen to accept this weekend.
