Ondulation is the latest album from Tāmaki Makaurau-based composer, keyboard player and performer Alan Brown. It's inspired by – and features – the Ondomo.
The instrument is a recreation by Naoyuki Omo of the Ondes Martenot, one of the earliest electronic instruments developed in 1928 by Maurice Martenot. 'Ondes Martenot' translates as ‘Martenot’s waves’.
Alan brought his Ondomo into the RNZ studio to demonstrate the instrument and talk with Bryan Crump about how he uses it in his album.
