This weekend Music Therapists will celebrate 50 years of plying their profession in Aotearoa.
The Music Therapy NZ Conference takes place in Wellington from 13-15 September, but zooming in by internet, one of the guests comes from a tradition that goes back over two thousand years.
Madhurima Banerjee is a Carnatic violinist and music therapist based in Kolkata India.
Ahead of her appointment with the New Zealand conference, she spoke with RNZ Concert's Bryan Crump about her practice and musical background; including a demonstration down the line, playing her violin.
