Nicola Benedetti and Leonard Elschenbroich
Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti is back playing with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. This time, she performs Brahms’ Double Concerto for Violin and Cello with German cellist Leonard Elschenbroich. Nicola and Leonard discuss the pressures of having both a creative and personal relationship and how that impacts on their performance of Brahms’ intimate Double Concerto. The couple will play the work in eight centres around the country with new NZSO music director Edo de Waart.
Tecwyn Evans
Tecwyn Evans is back with the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra for the start of its 50th anniversary celebrations. He conducts Ode to Joy this weekend. Along with Beethoven's final Symphony the concert includes a fanfare written by Tecwyn and operatic arias to be performed by Dunedin born singers Clare Barton and Jonathan Lemalu.
