Auckland baritone Benson Wilson took away first prize in the 2016 Lexus song quest in July ahead of Tenor Filipe Manu, and soprano Madison Nonoa. Judge Yvonne Kenny described Benson as the complete package, ready to take advantage of the win which gives him a cash prize and a Study Scholarship plus money for international travel. Benson was on Upbeat a few days after the Grand Final.
