1.40pm Composer John Young brings Spirit to CSO
Electroacoustic New Zealand composer John Young has written a fanfare to open the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra’s 60th birthday season on Saturday. His new work Spirit includes his recording of a bell in the town of Forli in Italy; John’s father Alex was a soldier there in 1944 and fell in love with a local girl, John’s mother, whose family were victims of a German bombing raid.
