Tusiata Avia really did burst onto the New Zealand poetry scene in 2004 with her no-holds-barred, provocative debut collection, Wild Dogs Under my Skirt.
For some seven years Tusiata toured New Zealand and internationally, presenting her poems from that collection as a solo show.

Then they were adapted for six actresses to perform and that’s the version that’s on at the New Zealand Festival in Wellington this week.
Lynn Freeman, presenter of Standing Room Only on RNZ National, was at the opening night at the Hannah Playhouse.
