The Berlin Wall has now been down as long as it was up. Beethoven’s 9th symphony, was performed by Leonard Bernstein at Christmas 1989, barely six weeks after the Wall fell, first in West Berlin and two days later in the former East side of the city. His multinational orchestra included musicians from New York, London, Paris, Leningrad, and both East and West Germany. We celebrate another milestone with this classic recording.
